RETINA Project

The Weber-Lutgen gallery since its founding in 2007 has decided to go for creative proposals that work outside the conventions of the artistic system and cultural localism; undoubtedly this has been a difficult task considering that a gallery, and its curatorial notion, survive thanks to the existence of institutional and private actors that pay attention, interact and acquire works. Today we can say that our journey continues, we are still eager to renew ourselves, shake the cultural and artistic panorama of the city with the youngest action and collaborate with the economy of the people who dedicate themselves to the plastic creation.
In this way, taking advantage of our tenth anniversary, the GWL inaugurates the RETINA project, an exhibition space dedicated to the street and designed to show the most incipient works and artistic proposals, because we believe it is necessary to promote the active participation of youth in the sphere artistic, and because it is urgent to strengthen ties with the university environment, thus facilitating experimentation and creation from within.
RETINA is a joint project that originates from the closeness with certain professors of Seville and Salamanca; the space will house a succession of young artists from the two cities.
RETINA as an exhibition format is presented as a module with 5 dimensions: 125cms. X 220 cms. X 250 cms. X24 hours x 15 days, open to any manifestation, artifact or artistic discipline.

During the process of the call, the designated faculty and those responsible for the GWL will select the proposals and / or exhibition projects, based on different criteria related to 1- the quality of the technical execution, 2- the contemporary and current use of the languages plastics, 3- the degree of reflection / production of art theory, 4- the relationship with the sociocultural context, 5- the capacity for resolution and deployment of the proposal in the given space, 6- the feasibility, and 7- the coherence internal of the proposal; later, the selected projects will be planned by the students, with the support of the appointed faculty and those responsible for the GWL; The creation, production and assembly will be the responsibility of the students and will be covered by the student to the GWL *.
* The gallery will have a year in "deposit" the work; the participants will transfer the rights of commercialization of the work during that time, extendable to two years if it is placed on the web of artsy.net. From the sale of the work, the benefits will be divided at 50 percent between the artist and the GWL.
